Plexus

Type

Interactive installation.

Concept

Plexus aims to represent the human-machine interaction and the similarities between the computer and the human in terms of operating. A plexus represents “an area where a network of nerves, blood, or lymph vessels comes together”. An interactive abstract graphical computer-generated design depicting a plexus following a web-like appearance provides both a modern and an organic look to the representation of both the human mind and the computer programming algorithm.

This work emphasizes the body movement as a way of expression forming a communication interface with the computer underlining at the same time the operating similarities between the human and the computer. In this era of digitalization and technological development at an incredible rate the problem of transhumanism arises, problems on the philosophical and ethical nature raise more questions about upgrading the human body. With this installation I put the accent on the collaboration between the computer and the human by physically separating the two. Both humans and computers are highly complex and sensitive systems that when messed with, disturbances occur and will most likely malfunction. In case of humans one wrong move from the doctor during a critical operation can lead to the death of the patient while in the case of computers one semicolon missed and everything fails.
